Any more ideas on this problem? I try saving and loading a new game every day and still get the same results. I would love to play this game more, but without being able to save games there is no way im going to play it.

Ok, new patch just a couple minutes ago on steam. I'm all excited... I open up the game... start a new mission.... save the game.... go to load.... and STILL HAVE NOTHING IN MY LOAD GAME LIST!

Come on, can we get any sort of comment from someone there on this issue? Any fixes or work arounds?

Do you by chance have a redirected My Documents folder? IMHO, the game seems poorly coded with respect to saves/loads. Saves in fact do work ... the save game file will appear in a redirected My Documents folder. However, Loads do not appear to work at all. As you say, the screen is blank.

Further, settings appear not to be loadable from a redirected folder either. For example, the game always starts over with only mission 1 available and low graphics settings. The the campaign_manager_state.xml and options.xml are correctly updated with changes to settings and mission progress -- but the "load" of these settings appears to fail.

In my case, the machine is on a domain with a GPO that enforces a UNC path for My Documents (keeps all the machines in my house backed up safely...and allows family members to log in on any machine to get their stuff).

Perhaps you have a similar setup?

Why yes infact I do have a redirected My Documents folder. The settings and my progress through the campaign seems to load just fine, but yeah. I cant get any games to load. I was wondering if that might be what it is. Seriously ****ing lazy of the programmers if that is the problem though. How can the save routines find the folder just fine, yet the load routine cant? Thats just weak!

And yeah, the patch today did NOT fix the problem.

I don't see this posted anywhere else, but I would like to see this get dev acknowledgment. Lack of support for a redirected My Docs makes the game unplayable as I cannot save and load my progress.

I can confirm returning My Documents to its original position fixes the problem.

That said I am not that happy having to do that. Hopefully it will be an easy fix in a patch.

I am not going to change GPOs to test it. At a minimum, SH3 should use the registry to determine the location. And again, I believe it is doing so on the SAVE process as saved games and XML changes are written properly. It's the LOAD process that's poorly coded.

Otherwise, I'd be happy if it would just ask the user for a location to save its games, XML and other data rather than just blindly assuming that everthing is in the default MyDocs location.

Yeah, I also am not in a position to move my mydocs folder back. I have it on a separate drive for a reason... i have alot of stuff stored in it and the old drive is too tiny. Please get a dev to fix this! It cant be that hard since you are already doing it on saves!!!

No patch corrects the bug as of 11/20.

Still zero support for a redirected folder -- and apparently no interest in even acknowledging that this is an issue that will be addressed.
