To be fair if they included a 'Skirmish Mode' it would significantly increase the re-playability appeal.
I suspect however they are moving onto another project and with the success of Kingdoms thats where the resources could be going into to (who knows)

it could be a nice idea! What if instead of whole ex-pack, we buy new expansions piece by piece in retail? Like new downloadable contents: if you want to download a new type of archer, it would cost 50 cents, a new tower 25 cents, a new production chain or eye candies would've their cost. A whole new scenario costs more. So we don't have to wait the whole ex-pack that never arrive becouse trade departmant doesn't belive that it make profit.
