What exactly happened at skirmish mode?
Skirmish mode (implemented in SH: Crusader and SH2) was base building against one or multiple AI player.
That is, you started somewhere on the map with a keep, the AI player/s also started somewhere else on the map and you all began to exploit the limited resources on the map and wage war against each other.
In SH3 the developers decided to totally skip skirmish mode, not even providing a base bulding AI that would be needed for such a mode.
(unfortunately they also didnīt provide a "Siege that" mode as implemented in SH1, where you could free build your own castle (i.e. castle, not base) and then let it get sieged by the AI, or siege it for yourself)
For me the willingness to buy such a package would depend on how the base game developes.
As it is now, with walls made out of paper and a "fortress" that doesnīt provide too much protection value (with spear throwers that are able to wipe the walls clean from defending archers and no siege engines/sappers bveing needed to tear down walls in seconds), not to forget the inability to build moats,
I wouldnīt waste a second thinking about buying an expansion for SH3.
If however SH3 changes for the better and you really get the feeling of defending something with a defensive value, I might be willing to think about it.
At least if said expansion pack included skirmish mode, a "Siege that" mode and either multiple wall types or even the ability to define the height (and maybe thickness) of walls for yourself
