FIX THE LAG? 1 Year, 2 Months ago
|
|
|
The gameplay lag is COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE, i mean the new patch and all is nice with stability from disconnecting. How bout fixing the gameplay lag where you can actually control ****, and get stuff done? I mean its retarded the amount of lag there is, once you start getting a few buildings up, it makes the end of the game completely pointless. Once you have built everything up, how can you successfully attack, when you are lagging out for 10 seconds at a time, every 2 seconds? I would understand small lag spikes, but I'm talking you are lagged out for 10 seconds at a time ATLEAST every 5 seconds. I honestly don't even see how you people could release a game like this, its like beta, yet we paid full price for it.

Leety2k5,
Please post your specs. There has been posts that recent patch seemed to fix lagging issues.

Hi folks,
Here's my report on how the game performs in free build with a large economy and king's invasion:
Unfortunately it is unplayable due to the still existing lag. I'm not playing MP but enjoy to create a castle and test it with the invasions. Building is quite fun though it becomes laggy at a certain point of buildings/objects (no soldier created so far). But once troops are made, the performance decreases... and with an invasion it simply won't work.
A solution to this might be that the farms/mines have a better output and therefore you need less of them to sustain an economy. Another way could be that (if that may be what causes the lags) not all of the building's animations/calculations are triggered...I dunno how, but something should be done to solve this lag problem.
Notice: I've a high end system and tried to turn off all of the graphics settings (or at least to minimum) and still had this lag.
Well- I guess I'll have to wait for the next patch (which might arrive with the gold version of the game).
CU until then,
MaKno
BTW: My System: i7 3GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX580 (and I refuse to use Gameboster with such a system)

Is your hardware overclocked by any chance?

No it is not. I rule out hardware as a cause to the lag. It has to be the programming. It is like there is a loop which runs through all objects and triggers their actions. And somewhere within happens a deadlock situation which temporarily causes the game to freeze (Well I can but guess since I cannot look at the game code)
I think that a few optimizations have been done so that the lags occur later when building large castles. But in my opinion, like with skirmish or terrain height bonuses or an AI, the fixing of the problem may mean a complete overhaul of the game and therefore is out of discussion.
Regards,
MaKno

Why?
We've had ten patches and workarounds are still necessary?
At what stage do we receive what we paid for?

lol!!! Is that really your best option/opinion for reducing lag?!
Restrict what we do in a game as the actual game can't handle it's own limitations.....Great!!

Hello all,
I also get a lot of lag issues in multiplayer maps, generally once both parties playing start getting near larger cities/armies.
I do not think that it is my or my friends computer; the following are specs from my PC, my friend has one a bit older but it still exceeds the recommended specs:
