I've been with you guys since Crusader. I made an account just so I could make this post.

I'm so disappointed, it goes beyond that, I'm insulted. This game is horrible. It's been months, and I'm confident patches will not fix this game. The entire thing is clunky at best. How could you put out something so embarrassing? Anyone could sit down and play this for 5 minutes, and the majority of problems will jump out at them. Give it an hour, and you'll be frustratingly familiar with those problems and more.

You'd have been better off trashing the whole damn thing and keeping your reputation alive long enough to try again. I'll be another ex-fan who won't be returning for your next game (if you stay afloat long enough to bring about a 'next' game). Shame on you.

I bought the game basically at release and was as shocked about the Pre-Alpha status as all the other gamers out there.
After some month I wanted to give the game another chance, because of the high number of patches, allthough I'm having my doubts about there usefulness.
Unfortunately my Steam-game launcher says that the game is currently not available and therefore cannot be played.
This happend for the past 3 days and I'm really dissappointed AGAIN.

Any comments on reasons or how to fix the issue?

As many have mentioned. Single player lag when the troops/peasants numbers increase makes the game unplayable.
Please fix this problem ASAP.

Does anyone there actualy play this game? I mean the series. I get the feeling it is a shot in the dark for you guys. Maybe you have never actually played it and must gamble with what the cusmomer might like.
I would have loved to hang on to some hope that you were listening but reading the posts from the admin is contrary. In the skirmish petition post it was said firmly that there will be NOTHING forthcoming. My wife and I spent days and months challeging six Pigs and other combinations of AI opponents. To us, that is what Stonghold (Crusader)was all about. Stronghold 2 was a joke. Stronghold 3 looked so good and promised so much. The videos were "We talked to players and listend to them!", and "Back to basics!" The admin talks about Crusader as if it had nothing to do with the company and history of the game... Sad because it was the best you ever did.
Anyway, if you want anyone to play anything else from you, it better be free.

I completely agree with you.

What I cant understand is why they just did not update the old stronghold games, as far as I cam concerned this is just a con and now I am afraid to buy any game, especially if it has the world steam or firefly on it, I notice best buy has taken some back they have the old open boxs with them. I told them the games were no good, and dont work, they said they knew that and were going to take them off the shelf.

I too have been with you guys since the first Stronghold came out. Stronghold 2 in my view is still an unfinished game, it lacks that overall polish and shine, there are many glitches in the map maker and the AI is seemingly worse if anything from the previous games. At the end of the game the statistics screen was left out and in game many of the small details that were in the first two games were just unfinished/left, the whole thing felt rushed and unloved.

Now with that said I was on the verge of buying stronghold 3, but saw it had massive problems so I bought the old Stronghold series again. Upon getting home I loaded the DVD which contained stronghold 1, crusader, crusader extreme, stronghold 2 and legends. I proceeded to install the games and instead of seeing the nice install sequences for each game "slid-show/music" I was subjected to 5 doses "1 hour" of hard marketing for (stronghold kingdoms).. You wrecked the beautiful install sequences for all these games because you are greedy B*#*%*S.

There's bad blood in your ranks up top somewhere “probably marketing” that definitely needs letting. At the end of the day you reap what you sow and you my friends have lost your way. You have run this popular gem of a castle builder series into the ground. Stronghold 3 could/should of been an absolute Gem, you had the fan base and the chance to really let yourselves shine again.

I'm getting too old and grumpy to play games now, they don't interest me much, but the stronghold series of games and that rustic chaotic AI of the first two games was highly contagious for the odd hour or two here and there, thank you firefly for those many hours of fun over the years.

I hope you manage to fix this game up properly and then show all these kiddies why firefly makes the best sim castle builder in SH4.

I also have been playing this series since the beginning. I was waiting until now to say this to see if ANYTHING would be fixed. And nothing. Not even a halfway decent patch. I can't even beat a level on easy because this game is so broken. IE in the military campaign the 5th mission. I cut off the enemy wood farming instantly yet somehow they are still able to make a hand full of troops. And I am sitting waiting forever for more peasants to make more troops. (Happiness and food are maxed for the level) Yet by the time I can make 10 more spearmen they enemy has had, remember with no resource production 40 minutes into the game, still has magically produced 5 more archers and 6 more spearmen after I have been attacking this whole time.


Such simple things in this game have been skipped. Like a box to see where the screen is in the minimap. I mean seriously how could you forget that? That has been in EVERY RTS, including your games, for over 20 YEARS!

Either the maps are way too small, or the buildings are way too big. Either way it ruins the game. Seriously did anyone test this game before it was released?

I do not want workers leaving because it is ****ing raining. That was an absolutely horrible idea.

I thought Stronghold 2 was a disappointment until I played Stronghold 3. What a disaster.

As a post note, I have never gone onto a devs forum to say anything negative before. Something had to be said about this horrible, unplayable game.

And to thank everyone on this forum for voicing your opinion as I agree with everything that has been said.

It is sad to say that even if there is a SHCR2, I will not even think of buying it. Even though SHCR is my absolute favorite game of this genre ever.

Not only is this game not worth your money, it isn't worth your time. I'm saying this 4 months after release.
