Unable to Launch Game 3 Years, 9 Months ago  
Hi

Have played this game before but recently have been unable to launch the game. All I get is a spinning silver disc then I am asked to retry.

I have done a launch ****ysis and computer diagnostic. Please advise how to attach these to send to you if they will help.

This sounds likely to be the copy protection system.

If Space Colony is on a CD. Then ensure you are running version 1.1 (shown on the main menu), if you are not, download the patch: http://www.fireflyworlds.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=164&Itemid=247

Also, you may have updated a downloadable version of the game, using a patch for the CD version. If so, you should uninstall the game and reinstall it but do not apply the patch.

I have uninstalled, re-installed and downloaded the patch as suggested. Unfortunately, it has not made a difference - I still get the same message 'unable to authenticate disk within time limit - retry.

Grateful for any other suggestions.

If you uninstall and reinstall then play the game without the patch, does it work?

The problem could be software which has been installed since you last ran the game. If you have virtual drives, deamon tools, etc running, try disabling them.


I have also heard if you run the game in compatiblity mode for Windows 2000 this may make the game run.

To do this right click on the icon and select properties. Click on compatibility and select Windows 2000 and press OK. Now run the game as normal.

I'm afraid this didn't work either - I'm so frustrated! Hoping you can come up with another solution. I'm fresh out of ideas.

I had sometimes same prob with my Stronghold legends disk when i wantet it to play on Vista, i just had to start it as Admin then it was working fine.

Or try like Daz said to start it on windows 2000, when this dont work is the only help the secuRom support.
