Jeebs: we will have better kind of players than with a free2play model
Even if the game is free, I'm not sure that there will be thousand of people playing on the game. So, if we have to pay for playing, I guess there wouldn't be a lot of people.

Even though I agree on pay to play, I do think the subscription costs should be dramatically lower than other MMOs like World of Warcraft, for example. This is because, and maybe I am wrong, I think that Stronghold Kingdoms requires less maintenance and upkeep costs during release than the large amount of server at Blizzard do.
Sorry for comparing with WoW, by the way, I hate that game.

Heheh, nobody wants to compare to WoW, but it's just so easy to use as an example because everyone knows what you're talking about.
But I do agree with you on that point, this obviously won't require the same level of server power or man power to keep running. All though at the same time there won't be as many people paying so it kinda balances out. I just hope the balance turns out to favor a cheaper subscription hehe.

The costs might be slightly different here. When Brian Fargo left the company he took the rights to publish Stronghold with him, so unless things have changed since then, Firefly will have to pay him something in order to make this game. What that would be I doubt we'll ever know.
