So, I wanted to know if stronghold 3 was going to be steam game. Why you ask? Because i have dial up and love all the strongholds and just wanted to know if i'm going to be able to play stronghold 3.

I don't mind activating games its just i can't download all the updates (which steam makes you) If anything just try and not force us dial up people to download all the updates.

Maybe make a 1 activation per-disc type of deal?

Steam killed the total war games for me. Hope it doesn't kill stronghold.


And i understand if you guys do use steam (piracy and stuff) But just consider what i have to say. I speak for the forgotten people of the boondocks and lack of money for DSL or broadband

Steam killed the TW franchise for me as well and as far as i know SH3 will be using steam as drm and online multiplayer games.
Heres hoping that they put out a non steam version but i dont see that happening.

Yes SH3 will be a steam game, you will need to be online to activate your copy but after that you're free to play offline so your dial-up connection should not pose a problem at all

If you start up steam in offline mode you are not forced to download updates or get bogged down with delays, the game should boot up like any non steam game.

Yeah that is what everyone tells me but, steam makes you download the whole game (In order to check the files, So you can play offline). So looks like i'm playing SH2

If your on dial up going and buying a retail/boxed version of the game and installing it to your steam files will be much much quicker then downloading the whole game from steam as that could take hours and hours.
Plus youll be getting any goodies inside the box while with steam youll get a serial key number and thats it.

I got Dawn of War 2 and Total war empires both in store. But no luck.
And until i'm a full time FBI agent, i'm stuck with dial up.
SH3 is worth the wait. (I hope)

You mean DOW and ETW wouldnt install? I hope SH3 is worth running a 3rd party app{steam}which i am totally against but like i said if SH3 is great i can overlook steam.

Unless you have something faster then dial up, your outta luck.
But who knows maybe it will work for you.

If you buy the physical, retail game all the files needed to install the game are on the disk. You must be installing your game through steam in all these cases which of course would take many hours on 56k, steam activation takes no time at all.

Perhaps expanding on where you run into issues on steam would help me understand the situation better so I can help you out.
