SH3 would be awesome.
There are especially one thing I'd like to see.
Combat (the stats part) system slightly like the total war series.
Different from total war, is each unit can move on their own of course.
Most units have only 1hp, while some of the stronger may have 2 or 3 (lord many).
When a unit recieves an attack 3 things can happen.
- Either it looses 1hp (meaning death to most units).
- Attack misses, or is evaded (nothing happens).
- Attack hits, and wounds opponent.
The last one I will explain more in detail.
A wound stuns an opponent for a short duration (knocked down or something like that).
If you have 1hp and recieve a wound you will get reduced stats
(move more slowly fight worse, these might vary, sometimes it makes you limp, while other times your fighting skill is greatly reduced while still being able to run)
If you're wounded and get struck by another wound, you die.
If you have more than 1hp:
This works the same way, only that your stats aren't reduced. Your stats are only reduce when you loose a hp, so the balance between remaining hit points, and total determines how reduced your fighing abilities is.
You have many other stats. defence, melee attack, ranged attack, speed etc.
Attack determines your chance to hit.
High defence increases chance to completely negate an attack, or reduce a 1hp strike, to a wound.
ranged attack will then determine accuracy, while melee attack determines your swordplay (should be shown visually).
Ranged attack, might still hit another target, so firing against a clustered group is much more effective than firing against just one.
Wounds pass away over time, or may be treated. hp's may also be treated, but are harder to treat.
What we reduce by this, is seeing how hp is slowly reduced in a group, then suddenly all die. This makes it more realistic, and satisfying when you're lucky enough to take down a knight by pure chance
Knights mounted should not have the kill horse, then knight. This should be more luck, but usually a horse is easier to hit, but also being able to take more hits (atleast if they're armored).
Most attacks only deal 1hp, but some attacks deal more. We're talking here about being struck by a ballista. This would mean instant death for everyone, except a lord.
A lord will also regenerate his hitpoints quite quickly by himself when not being in war.
When siege weapons are set up. Arrows don't destroy them, archers aim for their engineers. You'll have to use siege, melee or fire to destroy them.
Another thing is melee units should not be able to destroy buildings in a few seconds. Completely unrealistic, and annoying that a few enemies can very quickly destroy your entire economic buildings.
They could be able to set them ablaze or try to damag most breakable (need repairs to work again properly).
I also wouldn't mind if that means you have to build buildings. After all it's more realistic, than just clicking and they pop up.
