Medieval Xmas Fact 14

The term "Christmas Eve" stems from the middle ages when the day was referred to as "Adam & Eve Day." On this day, trees were decorated by the Church, traditonally with apples. A custom practiced in Germany in the middle ages saw a fir tree paraded through the town, decorated with flowers, and placed in the town centre to overlook a grand banquet of the towns people, and then later burned.
